A ribbon lined clip offers a light hold that won't rip out hair when a young one pulls on it. I love ribbon lined for fine hair, and the youngest bow wearers. An alligator clip with teeth offers a stronger hold, but may rip out hair if the little one pulls on the clip. I use the alligator clips with more hair, typically 3 years plus. Everyone has different hair and different preferences, these are just to guide you.
